              • Are you a drain technician looking to make your job easier and improve customer loyalty? Try using digital inspection equipment in your work to accomplish both goals. Using a digital inspection product – such as a Ridgid camera, monitor, or locator – will be extremely beneficial to your business and will be worth the investment.

Using a camera system when working with drain lines can be very useful. Camera reels with a small camera head, such as the Ridgid SeeSnake reels, will easily navigate through twists and turns in the line that you are evaluating. The SeeSnake model can inspect pipes ranging from 2” to 12” in diameter, providing a wide range of possible uses at different jobsites, both residential and commercial. This model can also operate in temperatures as low as 4°F and as high as 104°F, making it useful year-round. Once you have run the camera through the line, you can begin clearing it with the confidence that you know the problem and can address it.

When you use a camera on the job, it can also help your customers trust you more. The camera offers a great view of the exact issue within the pipes. You could explain what’s going on without showing the customer visual proof, but the customer might not believe that that is the issue or that it’s as severe as it is. For all they know, you could be lying to take advantage of the situation and milk more of their money from them. Help them trust you by showing them firsthand what the problem is.

There is a variety of digital inspection equipment beyond a camera available for purchase. A monitor is an essential product to pair with a camera; it offers a live view of the camera’s footage on its screen, and many can now record and transmit the footage so saving and sharing with customers is easier than ever. At Duracable, we offer Ridgid monitors and a G-Vision monitor. Some other helpful digital inspection equipment are hand-held cameras, transmitters, and locators. Hand-held cameras can be used when larger camera systems aren’t optimal, such as in tight work areas. Transmitters can be of great assistance as they can help you trace metallic lines that could carry an electromagnetic signal like phone lines. Other types of transmitters can be sent down plumbing lines so you can trace buried pipes or locate septic systems. Locators will help you easily find plumbing lines or buried utilities from above ground, especially with the help of a transmitter.

While it is not an absolute necessity to use digital inspection equipment while inspecting lines, it makes the job much easier and quicker. Cameras will help you and your customer to better understand what the problem is within the line. Other technology will help you locate buried cable and find plumbing deep within the ground. With how much help it can be, investing in digital inspection equipment can quickly pay for itself in your time saved and money earned. Shop the best inspection equipment today at Duracable.com, and don’t forget to contact us if you need a Ridgid camera repair!

              • Even professional plumbers with years of experience have issues with their equipment, especially with sewer drain snakes breaking. However, learning how to correctly handle the drain cable can drastically increase its life, saving you time and money. Here are some basics on how to use a sewer drain snake properly when clearing a main line.

Starting off, locate the main line cleanout and remove the cap. Check for standing water in the pipe. If you notice standing water, run the drain cleaning cable toward the street. If you do not see any standing water, you will need to run the cable toward the house. Make sure to position the drain machine as close as possible to the cleanout. The less slack there is when the sewer drain snake is fed down the line, the safer it is for you. Pull the end of the cable out of the machine reel and put it into the cleanout. Hold the cable tightly to avoid kinks in the snake and unnecessary injuries to yourself. Once the cable is in the drain, turn the machine on and feed the snake steadily down the line. When you reach a clog, ease the cable back a few feet then feed the cable forward again until you can feel the resistance. Continue moving the cable back and forth to dislodge the clog. Depending on the buildup, you might need a blade attachment to fully clear it. Once cleared, feed the cable into the drain further to make sure it is completely unclogged. When you retract the cable, turn off the machine while the end of the sewer drain snake is still in the line, then remove fully and check that everything is running smoothly When everything is good to go, close the cleanout and you are done.

Be aware! You need different cables for different jobs, just as you need different drain machines. A sled machine is used for bigger jobs than sink machines, so the cable will be bigger, too. You could use a smaller cable for big jobs, but it would be less effective and more likely to break or have other issues. It sometimes takes some trial and error to learn when to use each cable, but experience will make it easier.

Duracable has just the right drain cleaning equipment to prepare you for your next plumbing job whether you need the machine, the cleaning cable, or just regular drain care. Also, all Duracable drain cables are made in the USA. Products made in the United States have to go through different testings. With Duracable, you can be sure that every one of its snakes is going through rigorous testing before being, during, and after manufacturing. The cable testing consists of an inside and outside diameter test, a drop test, and a twist and stretch test. Duracable also offers a 30-day warranty on their cables in case a defect gets through. You can easily get your cable replaced if it breaks. This purchase will not only lower the financial risk, but also ensure you less difficulties during your job. You will be enjoying the highest quality cable, made using the most up to date cable winding equipment and Duracable’s own proprietary high tensile strength wire.

                    Sewer Snake Cable

Looking for the best cable for the job can be frustrating: You don’t want to waste money on anything that’s going to let you down in the future. You also don’t want to waste too much of your time shopping around. You want a quality product for a fair price that’s going to last and make your job easier. Let us make this decision an easy one for you: if you need a Sewer Snake Cable, DuraFlex has the best around.

What makes one Sewer Snake Cable preferable over another? First, you should start with how the cable is made. DuraFlex cable comes in various styles: Hollow Core, Loose Wound Hollow Core, Inner Core, Loose Wound Inner Core, Cable-In-Cable, Bulb Head Hollow Core and Open Hook Hollow Core. Every one of these styles is manufactured from a proprietary, hard drawn, high-tensile strength wire with different diameters, lengths, and characteristics that can apply to any situation.

The second thing to look at is whether or not the wire is tested. Sure, we can sit here and tell you that our wire is made of quality materials, but how can you know that for sure? DuraFlex cables go through a rigorous testing process that weeds out any unworthy product. Every coil that comes into our warehouse is testing and the results are documented. If a single test is failed, that coil is discarded and will not be used in a DuraFlex cable. More than 27,000 pieces of cable are tested each year; that’s more than 15.4 million feet of wire. When you look at a DuraFlex cable, you’re looking at a cable that has proven its worth.

So, what kinds of tests do we put our cables up to? One would be the inside/outside diameter test. We make sure that the diameter of each cable meets its specifications. A personal favorite would be the drop test. This is to make sure that the stiffness of the cable is up par with our standards; a cable that’s too limber won’t move through the drain properly and we won’t let that happen to our customers. The twist test restrains one end of the cable, while a machine twists the other end. We turn the cable until it breaks and gauge the PSI; this lets us know how many foot-pounds of torque the cable can handle before breaking. The stretch test is there to see how many pounds of pressure it takes to make a cable stretch. Once it is stretched, we bring the cable back to a point of no pressure and measure how much it actually did stretch. As you can see, we take our testing very seriously and every product that we release has been effectively approved through an intricate process.

When you want a reliable Sewer Snake Cable, one that you will trust to get the job done, you want DuraFlex cable. Our cables, made right here in the United States, are made using the most up to date cable-winding equipment along with our own proprietary high-tensile strength wire. We’re so confident in our testing process that every cable you purchase comes with a 30-day warranty. It’s no wonder that DuraFlex cables are the best in the market.

                  • If you are in the market for a drain cleaning machine, you need to make sure that you are purchasing the best machine to fit your needs. Drain cleaning machines are expensive, heavy-duty products that therefore require a lot of research before making a purchase decision. The three types of machines to consider are sink machines, sled machines, and upright machines. While all three types will operate properly, each are designed differently. So which type is the best for you? Let’s compare the benefits of each kind of machine to figure out which will best suit your specific needs.

First, there are sink machines, which are for smaller jobs. Sink machines are ideal for most residential lines as they are fairly small. Despite their smaller size, they still have plenty of power. Sink machines are generally used for 1-¼” to 3” lines, making them the best option for fixing various residential lines such as sinks, bathtubs, and shower drains. These machines are also versatile, allowing their operators to work in different positions. Why lug around a mainline sewer machine to a residential job when you could instead use and transport a machine that is much smaller and easier to operate? Sink machines are the most logical option for residential. Even better, you can purchase your sink machine without worrying about it breaking because Duracable offers a 2-year warranty.

If you were going to be doing jobs on a scale larger than residential, perhaps a sled machine would be more logical for you to consider. The sled machine is the original style of drain machine and is still very popular among technicians today. These machines vary in size, which is important to note. Smaller sled machines clean 1” to 6” lines whereas the bigger machines clean 2” to 10” lines. To give you a better understanding of when to use these machines, it is said that they are best suited for commercial and industrial jobs. Sled machines often come with polyethylene or open-spoke metal reels. Again, like the sink machines, the sled machines also come with a 2-year warranty when purchased through Duracable. The DM55 model, which is designed to handle the toughest jobs, comes with a warranty of 3 years. Not interested in the aforementioned drain cleaning machines? Perhaps an upright machine will better suit you.

If neither a sink nor sled machine pique your interest, an upright machine may be a viable option. Upright machines can be used for both residential and industrial jobs. Duracable’s upright machines are some of the most versatile on the market. They can be operated both horizontally and vertically, and include stair gliders. Upright machines operate under a direct drive system, eliminating the need for a belt. Reels are easy to remove and change because of the swing bolts. These upright machines will save you time and money since they are easier to move and operate. And, you guessed it; the upright machines at Duracable also include a warranty like all of our drain cleaning machines.

There you have it; the basic functions of sink, sled, and upright machines. You can now use this information to make the best decision for your specific needs. No matter what machine you choose, Duracable assures you that you can be confident in it. All of our machines are manufactured in the USA, made with top-grade materials, and come with warranties at no extra cost to you. As a company that has been producing drain cleaning machines since 1981, Duracable is the perfect machine distributor for you.

                    • To save money, some might consider not even using a camera reel – but what’s the point of working on a line without knowing what is causing the issue or where the issue is first? If you don’t know the problem, there’s a chance you could actually make it worse. Without a locator or and transmitter when digging, you might not know where the pipes are until after you’ve hit them. To avoid damage to the job and your wallet, invest in a Ridgid® camera, locator and transmitter to save time and money.

No matter the quality of the equipment, there’s always a risk that your camera reel could get damaged from time to time. The issue could be faulty picture quality, broken connections, or just general damage. Using the camera correctly and carefully can prevent a lot of damage to the equipment, but it isn’t a guarantee. When it comes down to it, broken equipment is just a fact of the trade.

You can’t afford to go weeks or months without a functioning camera reel. Duracable knows how important your camera reel is to your business. That’s why we only allow factory trained and certified technicians to touch your camera. When you need a professional fix quickly, you can rely on Duracable’s camera reel repair services.

There are many different types of sewer rooter machines, including small models for more simple jobs around the home, and larger models used for more industrial settings. Large sewer rooter machines are designed to be used to clean main sewer lines, typically when the problem area is between the building and the city’s main sewer line. The machine will take care of clogs caused by tree roots and many other types of debris. Digging up the lines is labor intensive and costly, so in most cases you should first try to clear the blockage with a sewer rooter machine. A sewer rooter machine can be run up to several hundred feet, and in most cases will enable you to clear a clog without having to dig up plumbing drain lines.

                        How sewer rooter machines work

Sewer rooter machines include a stiff, flexible cable that is situated on a reel turned by an electric motor. The cable has a C-shaped cutting blade attached to its end. The machine is used by inserting the blade and cable into a sewer cleanout access port. The blade is sharp and can be serrated. The sewer rooter machine’s electric motor spins the cable and blade just like a drill bit. The blade is made to rest against the walls of the pipe so that as it spins, it cuts away roots all the way to the pipe walls.

How to use a sewer rooter machine

To use the sewer rooter machine, hold the cable as you feed it down into the pipe. You should always wear heavy-duty leather work gloves. The cable can shudder as the blade cuts through the blockage, especially when encountering thick roots or tough obstructions. Once you reach a tough spot, slowly ease the cable back a few feet, then feed it forward again until you feel some resistance. You should never attempt to force the cable through as it can tangle the snake cable up and potentially even cause it to catch on your arms or fingers. Continue to move the cable back and forth a few feet at a time until the blockage has been cleared. Once you have broken through the stoppage, feed the sewer rooter machine’s cable another 10 or 15 feet into the drain to make sure it is completely unclogged.
